Frequently Asked Questions

What is herringbone laminate flooring?

Herringbone laminate flooring is laminate flooring installed in a zigzag pattern that resembles a fish skeleton, which is where the name herringbone comes from. Instead of laying planks straight and parallel, the boards are installed at 90° angles to each other, creating a repeating V-shaped pattern.

Does herringbone laminate make a room look bigger?

Herringbone floors typically make a room look bigger. The zigzag layout naturally guides your eyes across the space, adding movement and depth. Because of that gentle visual flow, the room can seem longer, more open, and a bit airier overall.

What’s the difference between herringbone laminate and chevron laminate

Herringbone and chevron laminate mainly differ in how the planks are cut. Herringbone uses straight planks that meet at a right angle (90°), creating a broken zigzag. Chevron planks are cut at an angle of 45°, so they fit together in a smooth, clean V shape.

Is herringbone laminate hard to install?

No. Pergo herringbone floors only require one type of plank, making installation much easier than with traditional herringbone floors.

Can laminate herringbone be used with underfloor heating?

Yes, you can use herringbone laminate with underfloor heating as long as the product is marked as compatible and you use the right underlay. Its HDF core handles temperature changes well, so it works with both electric and water-based systems. The result is a warm, durable floor that feels great for everyday use.
